In addition to our daily program, throughout the year the children also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of excursions and incursions. These provide the children with the chance to engage with a wide variety of experiences to challenge themselves and expand their growing awareness of the world around them. These opportunities are valued as a part of the educational experience that we offer at Ekidna and enables us to ensure that we provide learning experiences related to specific topics such as dental health, safety with and around animals, nutrition and personal hygiene, and child protection. Excursions to local places provides children with a sense of connection and belonging between Ekidna and their community. Excursions to places such as the zoo and the aquarium broaden the children's understanding of the world around them as well as creates opportunities for dialogue around issues such as sustainability and the impact we have on a larger more global scale (e.g. endangered species etc.).
"The wider the range of possibilities we offer children, the more intense will be their motivations and the richer their experiences"
